As a young girl, I was always curious about my Grandpa’s box of “smelling medicine” that he used for the farm animals. I was not as intrigued about Grandma’s smelly medicine cabinet because the smelly “things” in her medicine cabinet were frequently used on my brother and I when we were ill or injured. As a particularly fearless child, I acquired my fair share of injuries and became only too familiar with that smelly medicine cabinet.
My Herbal Inspiration: My Aunt Marie was twelve years of age when I was born. She and her older sister helped care for me while my Mom and I stayed with my grandparents during my first year of life. Twenty-seven years later, newly pregnant with my first child, my husband and I visited Aunt Marie after learning she had been battling cancer for several years. She is the person who first pointed me towards natural herbs as an alternative form of medicine. No one is perfect, but sometimes a person comes into your life at the perfect time to help define your purpose and fuel your passion. I wanted you to know how much she influenced what I do today.
I’m still curious today and love to share my knowledge of herbs for health and healing. One size does not fit all, so I’m always willing to make custom herbal blends for my clients. Seasonal highlights of my herbal year include leading local “herb walks” to introduce clients to herbs that live all around them and how they can be wildcrafted and prepared to help support personal health and well being.
Herbally yours, Rege
